Tips for a Healthy, Tasty Breakfast
Some people say that breakfast is the indicator of how your day will start and end, which makes breakfast a very important meal and is mandatory to be had, and if possible, healthily. Traditional breakfasts, unfortunately, don't usually come in healthy flavors and options. Most people think breakfasts consist of:
- Carb-filled or too sugary foods like donuts, bagels, scones, pies, sugar cereals, cakes, pancakes and waffles, which are mostly empty carb calories that will start your day with a high blood-sugar level. Your body will quickly adjust to it and blood-sugar level will drop, making your cravings irresistible, and you'll be on a roller-coaster blood-sugar ride all day.
- Too fatty and oily foods like french fries, sausages, cheesy omelets, hash browns, hotdogs and burgers that fills your appetite and helps clog-up your arteries as well.
Consider other healthier options like a breakfast of oatmeal, flaxseed, blueberries and almond slices which are full of fiber, nutrients, protein and good fats. It only takes a couple of minutes to prepare and tastes great! Alternatively, any whole-grain, high-fiber cereal is acceptable like Dymatize Nutrition Instant Hot Oatmeal and Quaker Instant Oatmeal. You can never go wrong with fresh fruit salads for breakfast. It's easy to prepare, delicious and you can change its varieties daily. Cut up some apples, melons, dragon fruits, pears, oranges, kiwifruit or whatever your favorite fruits are. Throw in some berries and grapes, and add a dash of lime or lemon juice. Yummy! Power breakfast any day.
Yogurt and protein shakes are excellent choices, too. Get low-fat yoghurt (not non-fat ones as they are usually laden with too much sugar) or soy yogurt. Add some berries for flavor and taste. Lean Body Instant Breakfast Shake by Labrada is a top-favorite as it's a quick and convenient yet nutritious meal, especially for those with little time to spare.
Instead of scrambled eggs, try scrambled tofu with added onions and green peppers, light soy sauce or tamari, a dash of garlic powder and black pepper, stir-fried in a little olive oil or Organic Hempseed Oil, which contains valuable Super Omega-3 (SDA) and Super Omega-6 (GLA) that help our bodies metabolize fat to combat stress, pollution and aging. Eat them alone or with whole-grain toasts for a pick-me-up breakfast. So, enjoy a hearty, heart-healthy breakfast and begin your day with a bounce in your step. When you're oozing with positive energies, you can always look forward to wonderful, happy moments throughout your day. Insha'Allah, as He has provided everything for us.
