The Blessed Black Seed
The Miracle of 'Al-habbat ul Sawda'
Scientific Classification: Nigella sativa included in Magnoliophyta's class, oder Ranunculales, Ranunculales's family, gender Nigella and N.sativa species.
The Black Seed, famously known as 'Seed of Blessing', has many names attached to it; Black Caraway Seed,' kalonji',' Habbatul Baraka' and 'Nigella Sativa' (botanical name). The Black Seed has been used for centuries in the Middle East, Africa and Asia as herbs, as well as health remedies. The Black Seeds are triangular in shape, black in color and possess an overpowering smell (some people may interpret it as aromatic or musky).
Prophet Muhammad (SAAWS) mentioned the Black Seed has several therapeutic values and the potential to cure many illnesses. The Prophet (SAAWS) had said: There is healing in the black seed for every disease except death. [Sahih Al-Bukhari]
Black seeds, either in seed form or oil; offer many benefits to the human body. Some are listed below:
- Increase milk production in lactating mothers.
- Maintain and enhance our immune system.
- Provide relief for Asthma, Bronchitis, and Rheumatism.
- Lower blood sugar levels.
- Reduce high-blood-pressure.
- ...and many more.
- To fight cold & flu: Mix 1 teaspoon of Black Seed oil in a cup of hot water, with lemon and honey; drink 3 times a day.
- For healthy complexion: Rub ½ teaspoon of Black Seed oil over the face then wash with cold water.
- To relieve tired muscles: Massage on affected area with Black Seed oil.
